Sod Installation
Get a beautiful lush, green lawn, in days - not weeks!
Sod Installation in Amarillo & the Texas Panhandle
A new lawn changes the look of your whole property. With sod, you don’t have to wait weeks for grass seed to sprout. You get instant curb appeal and a lawn that’s ready to enjoy.
At Amarillo Land Services, we provide professional sod installation for homes and businesses across Amarillo, Canyon, Bushland, Potter County, Randall County, and the Texas Panhandle. We can also install a new irrigation system at the same time, so your lawn gets the water it needs to stay healthy.
Why choose sod instead of seeding?
Sod is the quickest way to get a lawn that looks great and holds up in our climate.
-
- Instant results — full, green grass from day one
- Helps control erosion and dust in new builds
- More reliable than seeding in Amarillo’s heat and dry weather
- Strong root system when cared for properly
Seeding is slower and less predictable. Sod gives you the lawn you want right away.
How we install sod
We take care of the whole process from start to finish.
-
- Site prep – grading, soil prep, and removal of old turf if needed
- Installation – laying and rolling sod for smooth, even coverage
- Irrigation setup – installing or adjusting sprinklers to make sure your new lawn thrives
- Cleanup – leaving your property looking neat when we’re done
Our goal is a clean, trouble-free installation that gives you a lawn you can enjoy right away.
Pair sod installation with irrigation
A new lawn needs consistent water to take root. That’s why we often install irrigation systems alongside sod.
We use Rain Bird sprinkler systems with WiFi controllers, efficient valves, and modern sprinkler heads. Zones are set up to water your grass evenly without wasting water. With irrigation in place, your new sod has the best chance to grow strong and stay green through Amarillo’s hot summers.
Caring for new sod
After installation, your sod will need some care:
-
- Watering – daily at first, then tapering off as it takes root
- Mowing – wait until the grass is rooted before the first mow
- Checking edges – watch for dry spots or lifting edges
We’ll walk you through the steps so you know exactly how to care for your new lawn.

Questions About Sod Installation?
How much does sod installation cost?
The cost depends on the size of your yard, the type of grass, and whether we’re also installing irrigation. We’ll give you a clear estimate before any work starts.
How long does it take sod to root?
In Amarillo’s climate, sod usually takes 2–3 weeks to root if it’s watered properly. During this time, it’s important to keep it consistently moist.
When can I mow my new sod?
Wait until the sod is rooted before mowing, usually about 2–3 weeks after installation. When you mow the first time, set the blade higher so you don’t cut it too short.
Do I need a sprinkler system for new sod?
Consistent watering is critical for new sod. While you can water by hand or hose, we recommend a sprinkler system to make it easier and more reliable. We can install irrigation at the same time as sod.
What type of sod works best in Amarillo?
Warm-season grasses like Bermuda and Zoysia typically do well in the Texas Panhandle. We’ll recommend the best type for your yard and soil.
How long does the installation take?
Most residential sod projects can be completed in just a few days. Larger or more complex yards may take a little longer.
